It's Doesn't Have To Be Perfect, It Just Has To Be Done – Kimberly Gosney

How many times have you really wanted to do something and instead you did…

What starts out like the biggest, bestest (is that a word?), dreamiest idea. And, then…

Has this ever happened to you?

Today, I thought I’d share with you a little secret to getting SO much more done than you’ve ever dreamed possible.

The next time you have your next great big mind blowing idea…

Just get started.

Here are three reasons why you might want to mentally stall on that dreamy idea.

  1. You think it has to be perfect.
  2. You think it has to be perfect.
  3. You think it has to be perfect.

See a trend here? If you’re thinking that something has to be perfect before you get started. You’re going to meet with a big old pair of concrete shoes.

Let’s look at three examples of perfect things that exist right now…

{Insert the beautiful chirping of crickets right here.}

That’s because NOTHING in life is PERFECT. OK, maybe your children are perfect. ‘Cause truth be told my daughter is, {insert your giggles right here.}

If I stopped doing something every time I wanted to just because it wasn’t going to be perfect, well then – I just wouldn’t even bother to get off of my couch.

How about you?

The next time your staring down a heavenly new big idea, why not try these three tips to get started immediately.

Here goes:

  1. Write your dreamy idea down on a real piece of paper. (Something about writing something down gives it life.}
  2. Share your dreamy idea with a friend or two or a thousand. (Nothing like some good old fashioned group accountability.)
  3. Give your idea wings. For 10 minutes give your dreamy idea a little you time. Brainstorm that idea and get out everything you can think of about that idea.

Now, for that whole group accountability part? I’ve got a GREAT idea. I’m sure that in the time it took you to read this – you probably came up with a dreamy idea all of your own.

Post your dreamy idea right here in the comments. I’m going to ask you a question about your idea, just to make sure you’re really working it.

PS – Please share this with a friend. Maybe they need a little idea-spiration for today

    Kimberly – you are soooo funny and so on point too.

    This was exactly what I needed to read, right now. I’ve been stalling on my book all day, because I can’t quite figure out how to get it completely and totally perfect. Doh.

    Thank you – I so don’t want to be a poopy head!

      Yes! Please Claire. Don’t be a poopy head. Get to work. It doesn’t have to be perfect. It just has to get done.

      Thank you for realizing that you’re trying to make it perfect and stalling on it. That’s the first step!!!

      And, when you finish your book, let me know. Because I SO want to read it and cheer you on!!!
